L'Hôtel de Ville is Paris' beautiful city hall, situated on the North bank of the Seine right in the center of town. You'd never guess that just in front of its doorstep lies a site where hundreds, possibly thousands of bloody executions took place, spanning over five centuries. The big open square in front is now called la Place de L'Hôtel de Ville, but its original name was the Place de Grève, and for centuries this was the spot in Paris where most public executions took place. We obviously have really different notions as to what's weird. (Can't say I object to these posts of yours, though, 'cause history's always fascinating.)

I personally tend to lean more toward the spooky and/or gruesome, but I'll happily curb my posting if the mods think some of this stuff doesn't fit the criteria! It's certainly subjective, I'll readily admit, and I don't want to post anything folks think is off topic. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Oh, I love the spooky & gruesome myself, that's what I lean towards too, I just don't see the weird. But like you said, it's subjective. :)
